Valentines Brownie Hearts with Cream Cheese
When I was growing up in the former Soviet Union we never heard about Valentine’s Day. It became very popular only after a few years after the collapse. Now it is, like here in United States, a very popular day to celebrate. I always try to send my Valentines to my love ones wherever they may be. I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give a try. It came out very lovely! I believe your family members and people whom you love will appreciate your efforts. This recipe will take some effort however the result will not be disappointing.
For about 12 large Brownie’s Hearts you will need:
- 3 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 6 tablespoons of milk
- 1 tablespoon of red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
For the cream cheese filling you will need:
- 2 packages of 8 once each cream cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350F. In large mixing bowl combine together flour, cocoa, sugar, salt and baking powder then set it aside.
In another mixing bowl whisk lightly eggs, oil, 2 tablespoons of milk, vanilla and red food coloring.
Bring the liquid mixture into flour mixture and mix it until it is all moist.
The dough will be like clay in consistency. Take 3/4 cup of this clay like dough and add 4 tablespoons of milk into it, it will then be runny in consistency. Set it aside.
With a hand mixer beat everything together at room temperature; cream cheese, eggs, sugar and vanilla until it becomes fluffy and without crumbs.
In the original recipe it says that you need to use 13 x 18 jelly roll pan, I used two 13 x 9 regular thin baking sheets and it worked well.
Spray your baking sheets with oil then using a spatula spread your clay like dough (1/2 of the dough for each sheet) in a thin layer.
Then pour 1/2 of cream cheese mixture on each sheet.
Spoon your runny dough on top of the cream cheese mixture.
Then using a knife swirl it around like it has shown below.
Bake your brownies for 25-30 minutes or until the middle of the dough settles and would not wiggle when you move sheets around. Let it completely cool. Then using a heart shaped cookie cutter cut the brownies.
You can use them as it is or make a hearts or flours with the icing on top of each brownie.
