Russian Beef Piroshki

  • browning-beef
    First brown the beef.
  • adding-cheese-to-beef
    Mix parmesan, mozzarella, salt, pepper and herbs with ground beef.
  • deviding-dough-into-pieces
    Divide the dough into 8 pieces
  • rolling-the-dough
    Roll each piece into square 1/4 inch thick.
  • adiing-meat-in-the-center
    Drop the filling in the middle.
  • folding- the- dough
    Fold the Piroshki as you would make an envelop.
  • place-piroshki-to-bake
    Place each Piroshki seam down on greased baking sheet.
  • sprinkled-patties
    Brush each piroshki with olive oil and sprinkle with herbs.
  • baked-patties
    Bake Piroshki until golden in color.

  • beef-piroshki

  1. Mozzarella AND parmesan AND ground beef? You really have a way of mixing up delicious ingredients Viktoria! Your authentic Russian recipe is fantastic!
    Piroshki is also available here in small shops called tiropitadika (those are shops that sell savory pies and sandwiches) and bakeries. And it’s quite popular as well!

    Piroshki are very popular in Russia and traditional Russian Piroshki are made with cabbage, eggs and green onions and of course meat. I adapted this recipe specially for my family as they are big fans of Italian cuisine. Here in US we don’t have Piroshki but we have Mexican beef patties and Chinese dumplings. My family, my husband is American and daughter who was born here, called my Piroshki dumplings as well LoL.
