Handmade Christmas Tree Ornaments
Christmas time is always the busiest time of the year for everybody including me. Recently I started my small chocolate business and to me is a great surprise and delight received many orders, I had almost no time to look for our Christmas tree. Every year our family tradition is to buy a live Christmas tree and to decorate it together. When we were ready to go get our tree…oops, no good trees were left. We were so upset especially our daughter; I decided to look up and see if there was anyone selling fresh cut trees online. I found only a few websites that sell fresh cut Christmas trees who would deliver it right to our door. I picked one that had many very nice reviews and decided to give it a try! This Friday our tree arrived. After we unpacked the box we were surprised by how beautiful the tree looked! It is fresh cut and smell is unbelievable and here the site where we purchased it: https://freshcutchristmastree.com/shop-christmas/christmastrees/
But after we brought down our all of ornaments from the attic, we realized that what we did not have enough, so my daughter and I decided to make our own ornaments using what we have in our house. As our existing ornaments belonged to a country theme we thought that using fruits like Oranges and Cranberries will add nice touch this year.
For the ornaments you will need:
- 3 medium size oranges
- thin wire cut to 3″ long
- 2 bags of 12 oz each fresh cranberries
- 20 small treat bags http://www.michaels.com/celebrate-it-treat-bags/M10131920.html#start=3
- ribbon or thin decorative rope
Preheat oven to 200F.Slice oranges about 1/4″ inch thin. Place them on baking sheet covered with parchment paper and dry for few hours turning them over every hour until they will completely dry.
Take them out and let them cool down. Put the wire through the soft part of the orange ring, secure it and make a hook. Now it is ready to be hanged on the tree.
To make ornaments with cranberries. Place about a handful of cranberries into the
small treat bag.
Cut rope into two pieces 4″ inch each. Cris cross rope like it is shown down below then tie one end over the bag and make a bow from the two other ends of rope.
Now your cranberry ornament is ready to be placed on the tree:
This is a very easy way to make ornaments and it looks very attractive, you can use oranges slices for decorating your table centerpiece or even your holiday meals. Happy Holidays! Enjoy!
