My husband told me about his grandmother’s special caramelized apples that she was making specially for him when he was little. He said that the taste was so unbelievable that he never had anything like that before. Because his grandmother long past away there was no way for me to find out what was her secret recipe. And as I usually like to do I started my experimenting. I made a few recipes that did not work out until I found the one that what he said is very close to what his grandmother was making.
For 4 serving you will need:
• 4 Granny Smith apples
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 4 tablespoons brown sugar
• pinch of salt
• 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
First clean, core and slice your apples. In the frying pan melt butter
Then add your sliced apples into it and cook for about 3-4 minutes;
then add lemon juice and mixed together sugar, cinnamon and salt. Continue to cook your apples for another 10-15 minutes until they get a bit softer.
This caramelized apples will go well as a side dish with any meat or if you add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, it can be served as a great dessert.
My husband says that these are as good as his grandmother made which is a big complement. I am sure your family will enjoy this as well.
